Draft 1: Complete
Book 3 news
It’s been over a year in the making, but I’m excited to share that the first draft of Book 3 of my Last Lux Trilogy is complete. After almost two decades with Skye and many of the characters in the trilogy, it's a bittersweet feeling knowing this has been the last time drafting a book with most of them. On one hand, I'm so proud of this achievement (not to mention it feels pretty surreal), but on the other hand, saying goodbye when I press that publish button later this year is going to be so hard. I've laughed and grieved with these characters, cheered them on and picked them up after putting them through evil writer plots, and now, after writing the epilogue last week, I'm setting them free to live their lives after the happy ending (at least, that's what you're hoping for, right? 😈)
Things to expect in Book 3
Alessia hanging out in graveyards
Skye and Amber finally have a confrontation
Phaedra and Glen banter
The talking cat returns
Shadow daddy being badass
Dean playing hero
Roxanne getting her hands dirty
Camilla at her bloodiest best
How the gods lost their names
Three major character deaths
Actual romance
Next steps 📚
After a spot more tidying up of the last quarter of the book, I'll be sending it off to my awesome critique partners, karleinkwong_fantasywriter and nick.burgoyne.art
The second draft will take place in April/May, then hopefully I'll have some dates in mind for the long-awaited cover reveal and publication ✨And if you just can’t wait, you can listen to the Book 3 playlist over on Spotify now, follow along on Instagram for more teasers and character art, and read a spoiler-free sneak peek here.
Future projects 🔮
What's next for the Last Lux books? While Book 3 will close off the trilogy, it's not the end of the road for this universe. Once editing is wrapped, I'm excited to start drafting a prequel romantasy for a certain couple you may recognise from the trilogy 😏 And after that, I have ideas for a wintery standalone set in medieval Britannia, with a long-ago Lux loosely inspired by the Finnish tale of the Firefox.
Stay tuned for publishing updates this coming summer, and if you haven't yet read them, Books 1 and 2 of The Last Lux Trilogy are available on Kindle, KU and paperback. You can read them here.
